President
Urs Flury
Urs is married to Lis, and has two grown daughters, two grandsons, and one granddaughter. He has worked as an electrical engineer, marketing and sales manager, management consultant and university lecturer and also ran an academy for executives. For 12 years, he served as a magistrate and for six years as president of the Swiss Association of Magistrates. For the last 10 years, in retirement, Urs has served as the volunteer president of ‘Tansania Lächelt’, charity supporting education and pastoral care for orphans in Arusha, Tanzania.
Urs’ philosophy: “I stand for justice, fairness and supporting people who are not as fortunate as the rest of us. Instead of living solely out of selfishness, we should share with those who want to but cannot, and motivate those who are unwilling but capable. My life philosophies: I believe that the field we plow will not belong to us for long (Udo Jürgens) In the end, everything will be alright, and if it’s not alright, it’s not the end (John Lennon) …and if the gods will it, let it be so (Epictetus, philosopher) Carpe Diem.”

Co-ordinator General
Lis Flury
Lis has worked for many years as an HR manager in various international companies. Her work brought her into contact with a wide variety of cultures and people. During this time, she learned a great deal about both differences and commonalities, and has always greatly valued the resulting diversity.
From the founding of “Tansania Lächelt“, Lis was active organisation member and was able to hand over her responsibilities last year. Through this work, she got to know many people in the Arusha and Monduli region. These experiences have motivated her to now also take on a co-ordinator role with Safiri-Elototo, as the issue of female genital mutilation (FGM) is something she is deeply concerned about.
